The Foundation hosted the annual “Experience” Raffle drawing on March 29th with over 50 people attending at Zintel Creek. Five great destinations were donated by Club members.
The Raffle netted $11,000 to benefit KIDS in our community.
The Foundation and Kennewick Kiwanis Club applied for and were awarded a State of WA Capital Grant in the amount of $258,000 to build a playground for kids 5-12 years old at the Boys & Girls Clubhouse in Kennewick. Dear friends of the Kennewick Kiwanis Foundation,
As we near the end of 2024, I want to share with you a tax benefit you may gain by making a direct donation to the Foundation. I’ve linked an article from Paul Hansen of HFG Trust, outlining the tax benefit of making a direct donation to a non-profit, plus, he also discusses the option of leaving a legacy gift through your will or estate plan. Both are tremendous ways to make an impact on youth in our community. Please consider the Kennewick Kiwanis Foundation after you’ve read his article. And if you have any questions, please contact your financial planner, or accountant.
Recently, Rick and Micki McKinnon gave me their approval to share the $120,000 planned gift they have given the Kennewick Kiwanis Foundation in memory of their son Timothy Andrew McKinnon.
The McKinnon’s modified their estate plan to include this gift to the Foundation, plus 4 other non-profits they support in the community, when they tragically lost Tim in late 2022. They want him to be remembered through the great work of non-profit organizations in our community. Rick and Micki are very kind and generous people who raised 4 children, had successful careers, and now wish to leave something meaningful to make a difference in our community for generations to come.
We are humbled and thankful for their generosity.
Chuck DeGooyer, President
